Nystatin acts by binding to sterols in the cell membrane of sensitive fungi with a resultant change in membrane permeability allowing leakage of intracellular components. Nystatin exhibits no appreciable activity against bacteria, protozoa, trichomonads or viruses.
Nystatin functions by binding to the fungal cell membrane, which increases the membrane's permeability. This causes the cell's contents to leak out, leading to the death of the fungal cell. It is only effective against fungi and has no effect on bacteria or viruses. 

Nystatin Tablets BP 500,000 IU are an antifungal medication primarily used to treat fungal (yeast) infections of the gastrointestinal tract, including the mouth, throat, and intestines. The "BP" indicates that the drug meets the standards of the British Pharmacopoeia, while "500,000 IU" refers to its strength in International Units.
